Unit 4
1.Describe your experience. Did you find it beneficial? Difficult? Why or why not? Would you recommend this to others? Why or why not?
This exercise really made me feel like I took on my loved one's burdin. While relaxing and practicing my breathing techniques, I was able to take in their suffering and really feel as if I was in their shoes and helping them through their issues. I really found this beneficial and helpful, because iit made you think about other people and their feelings instead of just yours. Because of this I would recommend that everyone thy this exercise atleast once in their life time.
2.What is the concept of "mental workout"? What does the research indicate are the proven benefits of a mental workout? How can you implement mental workouts to foster your psychological health?
I believe that the concept of "mental workout" is to help us relax our mind and to make it easier to take in and remember information. Our minds and mental state is always so overwelmed with the stress of everyday life and the loads of information we take in on a daily basis. Research shows that mental workouts help releave stress and relaxes our mental wellness. With this, your not so overwelmed and tired, and your able to help others while helping yourself.

Hi Jeff,
ReplyDeleteIt was great to read a Man's perspective on this assignment. That is so interesting that you felt as if you took on your loved one's burden, I think that everyone should put themselves in another person's shoes for 1 day before they make any accusations or begin to question them. This will make you realize how much we really do take others for granted. For example, when I am sick, my husband realizes just how much I do around the house to keep things orderly. The same goes for him as well, when he is sick, I realize how much he does for our family and makes me appreciate him so much more.
I really enjoyed reading your post.
