Unit 10

Based on my unit 3 reflections, and on a scale of 1 to 10. My physical well-being is a 6, the military keeps me in shape but injured at the same time. My spiritual well-being is a 8, my spiritual aspect in life is great, it's what keeps me going throughout my days. My psychological well-being is a 6, my psychological aspect isn't to great. The military mentally exhausted me.  My physical goal is to fix all injuries and get back to my training. My spirituals goals are strong, but there's always room for improvement. My psychological goals are being worked on as we speak. I'm getting help from the military and my church to correct this. Now I'd say now my physical well-being is a 7, my spiritual aspect is still an 8, but it is stronger now than before.  My psychological well-being is still a 6. I have made great progress towards my goals. I just believe and keep trucking towards the final outcome. I've now practice meditation and other types of relaxation.

Unit 9 Project

It is very important for health and wellness professionals to develop psychologically, spiritually and physically. By developing these attributes, they are able to relate with their clients and employees to better enhance their psychological, spiritual, and physical growth. With doing this you are also able to better yourself as well. Your clients are looking for a great and professional experience, and even more, their looking for you to give it to them. This will also provide them with the comfort of knowing that they’re in great hands.

While assessing my health in psychologically, spiritually and physically, I realized that I need a little work in some areas. I assessed my health with a score ranging from zero to ten. In psychological, I scored a five. Where I have a fare psychological background, I still have much room for improvement. After my deployment to Afghanistan, things changed for me in that area and I’m trying to find my way back. In spiritual, I scored an eight. I have a great connection with my faith and spiritually, but I believe we can never score a perfect score since no one is perfect. Every person always has room for improvement regardless of what it is. In physical, I scored a seven. I feel I am physically strong and always improving, but as I say with everything else, “There is always room for improvement.”

The goals I set for myself in each area are very fare and obtainable. By keeping my goals in reach, I will never feel discouraged because the goals are too great. My psychological goals are already being worked on. The second I noticed I needed help, I went after it. Because of that, I’m doing a lot better. My reach my physical goals; I am conducting physical training more often. To better myself is very enlightening, and I believe everyone should try it if they don’t already. My spiritual beliefs are very strong. My goals to better this are to have my spiritual beliefs flourish by teaching others and keeping an open mind. You cannot teach if you cannot receive. Baby’s crawled first, and then walks, then run, by taking that concept and using it to reach your goals; it would be very difficult to fail.

The strategy I would use to implement to foster growth in each area would have to be practice. There are different ways of practice. With spirituality, you can meditate or find enlightenment in prayer. Just the belief of something or someone greater can change the way we look at everything and also help them strengthen their health. As meditation deals more with spirituality, it can also be used as an exercise for physical, psychological healing and growth. Another thing you can do for physical is working out or yoga. Depending on what outcome you are looking for, these will also help.

To assess my progress for the next six months and longer, I plan on creating a food and workout tracker to track my process. By doing this, I can also maintain a schedule to fit in stress management time. That time can be critical to the working person with or without a family. I also plan on using the time better to relax more. We are always so stressed out and need that time to unwind throughout the day.

Unit 8

Two exercises that I found to be the most beneficial were meditation and the relaxation exercise. With meditation I found myself doing it more and more. The outcome, for me, led to the meditation and relaxation exercise working together for me. Meditation is not:  Controlling your thoughts or trying to stop them  Purely a relaxation technique  An escape from reality  A religious technique or a dogmatic system  The same thing as yoga  As complicated and hard to learn as people think Meditation is:  Sitting down in a quiet place (for optimal energy flow, cross your legs, You can use a cushion, pillow, sit on the ground, or even in a chair)  Usually closing your eyes  Focusing your attention on your normal breath, a mantra, prayer, or even a candle or some other physical object.  A direct observation of inner reality.  A psycho-technology that is scientifically proven to dramatically improve mental functioning and psychological development.  A practice of kindness/equanimity with yourself. I have found meditation to really work for me; it actually helps me through my days. I have also found the relaxation exercise and to be beneficial to me. As I mentioned before, I found relaxation and meditation can be similar and work together at times. I try to keep at least 15 minutes every four to five hours just for relaxing time. Just to lie back, take deep breaths, and just let the energy flow throughout my body.

Unit 7

"Meeting Aesculapius" was hard to concentrate on and  some of the ideas in it very different. I believe my meditation practices has improved  greatly since I first started. I hated envisioning someone you care for and think of their characteristics that you may like. I used my wife and I see both her flaws and perfection, I’ll always tell her about those. This exercise made me realize I need to be more appreciative and understanding with my wife.

“One cannot lead another where one has not gone himself”, means that a person can’t show anyone or help someone if they haven’t learned it themselves. I believe this applies greatly the health and wellness profession. In this profession your always helping someone and they need to trust that you know your job and what your doing.

Unit 6

I discovered while doing this exercise, that I always thought about myself. By doing this exercise, I really started to open my eyes and started thinking about everyone else. The thought that they are people out there suffering, unhappy, and or with poor health can really get you thinking. Especially when your relaxing and repeating those four sentences over and over again. This really expands your mind and heart to really feel for others. With the assessment, what hit me the hardest was the fifth principle, "Integral assessment relies on deep listening and guidance." I'm able to listen to others while being free of bias of random feelings, thoughts, and images, but when I try to help myself the same way, I can't. I believe if I keep up with these exercises and assessments, it would help me foster a greater wellness in this area.

Unit 4

1.Describe your experience. Did you find it beneficial? Difficult? Why or why not? Would you recommend this to others? Why or why not? This exercise really made me feel like I took on my loved one's burdin. While relaxing and practicing my breathing techniques, I was able to take in their suffering and really feel as if I was in their shoes and helping them through their issues. I really found this beneficial and helpful, because iit made you think about other people and their feelings instead of just yours. Because of this I would recommend that everyone thy this exercise atleast once in their life time. 2.What is the concept of "mental workout"? What does the research indicate are the proven benefits of a mental workout? How can you implement mental workouts to foster your psychological health? I believe that the concept of "mental workout" is to help us relax our mind and to make it easier to take in and remember information. Our minds and mental state is always so overwelmed with the stress of everyday life and the loads of information we take in on a daily basis. Research shows that mental workouts help releave stress and relaxes our mental wellness. With this, your not so overwelmed and tired, and your able to help others while helping yourself.

Unit 3

1.Based on your reflections, and on a scale of 1 to 10 (ten being optimal wellbeing), where do you rate your A-physical wellbeing, B-spiritual well-being, C-psychological well-being? Why? My physical well-being is a 6, the military keeps me in shape but injured at the same time. My spiritual well-being is a 8, my spiritual aspect in life is great, it's what keeps me going throughout my days. My psychological well-being is a 6, my psychological aspect isn't to great. The military mentally ehausted me. 2.Develop a goal for yourself in each area (physical, spiritual, psychological). My physical goal is to fix all injuries and get back to my training. My spirituals goals are strong, but there's always room for improvement. My psychological goals are being worked on as we speak. I'm getting help from the military and my church to correct this.
